People could browse and buy products with their smartphones using the storefront. The products were delivered to their homes or they could be picked up from the store.
2. GAP’s gift guide
GAP partnered with seven well-known users of VSCO (photo-editing app) to co-create a gift-guide for their customers.
3. John Lewis’: The Bear and the Hare
John Lewis created a cute animated tale which has gained almost 13 million views on YouTube to date.
4. JC Penney’s ‘Jingle Mingle’ singing contest
They created a singing contest and the winners were played at the mall and $20 were donated to United Service Organizations for every song submitted.
5. TopShop’s ‘Dear Pinterest’ campaign
The UK-based retailer used Pinterest to power its online gift guide, and even attached oversized tags to in-store merchandise identifying the ones that had been pinned the most. They also used a touchscreen to let people pin the products in stores.
6. Target’s Pinteresting ‘Awesome Shop’
Target created a list of 1000 most pinned and ‘top rated’ products to show a list of recommended items.
7. Louis Vuitton’s ‘The Goose Game’
Louis Vuitton created an online board game to feature its holiday gifts. The game, which functions much like "Snakes and Ladders," is made up of squares featuring Louis Vuitton products that players can purchase in just a few clicks.
8. Tesco’s virtual storefront
Tesco created an innovative marketing campaign in Korea, where they found a new approach to get more customers. They created virtual stores in subway stations where people had a lot of spare time while waiting the train. With their mobile phones people could do their grocery shopping while waiting their ride. The products were delivered to your home once you had made the purchase with your phone. By changing ‘the waiting time’ to ‘shopping time’ they reached more customers and increased their online store sales.
Different ways of doing pop-marketing has been used by businesses around the world. There have been a lot of creative campaigns around the po-up idea.
